Description
Persia Modern is a 178.5 square meter architecture office. Design of this project started in May 2015 in Tehran and finished in July 2015. At first we started to do field studies in the previous architecture offices and designing the questionnaire and interviewing with users and clients to find a clues for design. During our first analyze and researches we noticed that almost all clients came to an architecture office, wanted to have a consultation before their building construction start and then have a specific plan for their building. Clients who are Iranian people in this project, have their own culture, history, traditions, religion, architecture and geography, that all effect on their sentience and needs. On the other hands there were Iranian architects and designers who were users of this place. They had different point of view about this space. They know the modern-vanguard architecture of the time. So they usually want to work and live in modern and updated architectural spaces. They usually don’t like to return back to traditional architecture with making a copy of them. So we had to answer these two main needs of our design’s contacts in this project.
We tried to solve this contrast by designing free spaces with white plaster background and gray carpeting floor, creating a purity and simplicity in form and texture, balanced with pointed arches and subtle detailing such as Gol o Morgh molding, calligraphy, abstract miniatures, sculpture and other historical elements. Also most of that abstracted historical elements in design all have functional reasons not just decorative. Pointed arches have used to cover the free column exist in open space of office. The dents in the wall of open spaces had designed as bookshelf with Safavi motifs. And calligraphy of entrance wall is a poem by ancient Iranian poet and philosopher, Rumi. And also the application of basin has designed in patio is to cooling and steering the wind that come from outside in to the interior spaces, so do old windward in Iranian vernacular architecture.
