Description

Description

Gap restaurant was designed by other architecture company at 2010 but it was incomplete. In 2013 its new owner wanted to rebuild it, so odyssey babasadeghian team started this project with this aim, to create appealing, Relaxing and comfortable place for users. Concept and structures taken from up-country houses, with items like: sloped roof, surrounded passageway and wooden facade. In redesigning and completing the building, designer tried to combine tradition and modernity and main approach was sustainable architecture which leads to minimum energy consumption.

In interior design we used navy blue which is domes, traditional tiles and fountain color. Using this colored, next to the brick walls, wooden floor, white panels and modern lights, made purposely contradiction between two styles. Climatically, windows of building help air conditioning through night and day. And designed pit garden, helps this natural system and makes the space cooler in warm weather, which is more pleasant and affordable than mechanical system and Due to the open environment around the building, it reduces the need for mechanical cooling of interior space.

On the other hand, designer created an air filter around first and second floor with accordion glass walls covered by textiles and wood, which acts as a thermal insulation and also creates greenhouse effect on winter, that absorbs sunlight energy in days and gives it to the interior at nights. Also bamboo walls, designed in east and west sides, cover the unpleasant view, and also act as wind breaker. designer tried to reduce the power of disturbing wind with this walls and it helps to reduce the consumption of thermal energy in cold season.

Also in exterior design, the approach was the same, Pit garden in the middle, the canopies, fountains, corridor under the stairs, roof garden, windbreaker walls, and maximum usage of wood, bamboo and … all are sustainable items in addition to aesthetic features. Generally, gap cafe restaurant has an integrated, functional oriented and energy saving design.
