Description

Description

Babasadeghian project includes a historical house restoration, located in Gorgan, Iran. This house is one of valuable Qajar architectural example that was resident of three generations of babasadeghian family. The impressive architecture of this house with 3door’s rooms (Se-Dari), with beautiful architectural details in each corner is exposed to destruction. So restoration plan was proposed to preserve this valuable building by Shavmadbana. Based on cultural and geographical environment, new plan of building is included: book cafe, gallery, restaurant and a great hall for cultural and religious events.

Based on the two historical parts of this house, renovation design has also two parts :

  • Restoration of the older part of the house and preserving it in the same way as much as possible and turning its function to a place for cultural events, like book café and gallery.
  • Renovating design of newer part that includes some changes in architecture, facilities, some part of the structure and also interior architecture in order to meet the needs of the hall.

In design of the exterior walls in the new part of the house, two important issues were considered :

  • Using endemic forms, textures and materials which not only reminds the Architectural identity of region but also make the determination of deference between the older part and newer part possible and easy.
  • Using any material or Construction Technique which meets the needs of thermal and acoustical comfort in relation to Climate of the area.
